MP calls for more support for dairy farmers

Zac Goldsmith MP, one of the Countryside Restoration Trust’s trustees, has called for UK dairy farmers to be supported “at every opportunity”.

In an article published last month in the UK edition of the Huffington Post, he adds his backing to the “Not in My Cuppa” campaign against the introduction to the UK of large, intensive factory farms on the US model and makes the point that smaller, pasture-based dairy farms (like Pierrepont!) offer advantages to cows, farmers and consumers.

He also draws attention to research from the US that shows factory farms are more vulnerable to changes in world prices and market instabilities.
