2013 spring bird survey published

by Rod Kebble

The monitoring group having tramped the fields and woods of Pierrepont Farm last month, the results of the 2013 spring bird survey can now be viewed by transects on this site.

The number of species seen is up but the numbers of birds recorded of each species is down.

The first corn bunting was seen on the farm and the monitors also saw the first kingfisher on the farm since spring 2009.

If you are in the area, volunteers from the farm and some of the top brass from the Trust’s headquarters will be manning Stand 295 in Avenue B of the Surrey County Show at Stoke Park, Guildford on Monday 27th May, from 0800 to 1800. Pierrepont Farm will also be entering calves, cows and young handlers in various competitive classes at the show.

The following weekend, 1st and 2nd June, we will be at the Floral Fringe Fair at Knepp Castle in West Sussex. The fair opens at 1030 and closes at 1700 both days.

We look forward to meeting you at one (or both?) of these events.
