Pierrepont Farm
wildlife monitoring report October 2012

On 20th October 2012 we did a clockwise circuit within Silvergate Field, starting and finishing in the woodland verge around the entrance gate and crossing the field at about half way, at the top of the rise. We dipped up to about 50 metres into the north of Tankersford Wood which we had not covered before, then completed the circuit in Silvergate. The eastern end of the field and the woodland to the north we have not yet covered.

Sulphur Tuft (12th down), very common, and easily identified (we hope!) but never seen before by any of us in open grassland with no evidence of dead wood to which it is normally attached buried underneath.

Several very edible Shaggy Parasol (10th) but sadly too far gone a good month earlier than last year.

Very inedible Destroying Angel was the last to be identified with some difficulty and healthy respect.
